Richard Richards (1916- ) was a lawyer and legislator. He was the chairman of the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee
(1950 & 1952), delegate at national conventions (1948-64), a Los Angeles County senator and a member of the California State
Senate (1954-62). The collection consists of the legislative files and related papers from Richard Richard's career as a California
state senator.

Richard Richards was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1916; AB, University of Southern California, 1939; received law degree
from University of Southern California, 1942; chairman, Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee, 1950 & 1952; delegate,
national conventions, 1948-64; Los Angeles County senator, California State Senate, 1954-62.Richard Richards was born in 1916 in Cedar rapids, Iowa.
Moving to California, he attended the University of Southern California.
getting his AB in 1939 and law degree in 1942. Active in local
Democratic Party politics, Richards served as chairman of the Los
Angeles County Democratic Central Committee in 1950 and 1952. and was
a delegate to the national conventions from 1948-1964. In 1954 he
was elected to the California State Senate where he served as the lone
Los Angeles County senator until 1962.
