This collection consists of documents created and accumulated by the former United States High Commissioner of the Ryukyuan Islands, Lt. Gen. Paul W. Caraway. It contains itineraries, schedules, printed matter, memorabilia, and photographs, relating to U.S. forces stationed in Japan and the Ryukyus, and to the visit of Vice President Richard M. Nixon to Asia and the Pacific in 1953. Includes photographic copies of certificates and letters of appreciation presented by Ryukyuan government and civic organizations to Caraway. Includes photographs, documents, and maps.
