Description
Materials in the Polish Subject Collection have been collected over time by the Hoover Institution Library and Archives from various creators and are reflective of Polish history from 1908 to 2014. The collection consists of serial issues, pamphlets, election campaign literature, proclamations, other printed matter, correspondence, reports, and miscellany relating to various aspects of Polish history, including the movement for independence, especially during World War I; the Solidarność trade union movement; and political events and elections since 1989. Includes clandestine anti-communist issuances from World War II and the early post-war period.
Background
Materials in the Polish Subject Collection have been collected over time by the Hoover Institution Library and Archives from various creators and are reflective of Polish history from 1908 to 2014. Noteworthy parts of this collection are materials attributed to Wadysaw Chojnacki, a distinguished Polish historian, bibliographer, and scholar. Chojnacki's contributions to Hoover Archives helped to establish one of the largest Polish materials collections outside of Poland.

Box OCM9 and Box 122 may not be used without permission of the Archivist. The remainder of the collection is open for research; materials must be requested in advance via our reservation system.
