Abstract: This collection contains a variety of materials relating to Jack London including personal correspondence, manuscripts, diary
excerpts, a page from the log of London's boat, the Snark, bibliographies, theatrical materials and programs, materials relating
to London's servant, Sekine, and a copy of London's death certificate. The majority of Jack London's papers can be found
at the Huntington Library, San Marino, Calif.

Acquisition Information
The Collection of Jack London Papers were given to and purchase by The Bancroft Library over many years including items from
the Thomas W. Norris collection. All items in the collection are identified with respect to provenance on folders. Additions
made to the collection include the Lucille Labourdette gift and the Forrest H. Sweet purchase.

Biographical Information
Jack London was an American author best known for his works
Call of the Wild, and
The Sea Wolf. Born in San Francisco in 1876, and largely self-educated, London wrote numerous short stories, novels and essays starting
in 1895 until his sudden death of uremia in 1916.
