Description
The collection consists of an album of 42 black and white photographs taken by George Reed of Sausalito, California, probably
in 1888. The album appears to be a family snapshot album. It includes views of the grounds and gardens as well as exterior
shots of the Hotel Del Monte, including horse-drawn carriages, the Club House, and the Pheasant House. One interior view of
the Bath House is also shown. Also included in the album is a landscape view of Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, men duck
hunting in Cordelia Slough, Point Tiburon, various outdoor scenes of Little Yosemite Valley in Marin County, various views
of sailing ships, and the interior of Reed's darkroom. Mr. and Mrs. Reed are shown engaged in reading and playing the piano.
Sausalito views include photographers in a tugboat, a wharf scene, men purchasing goods from a vendor in his wagon, local
residential dwellings, and G. B. Jones' La France Rose House. Various points of interest were captured, such as The Old Customs
House in Monterey, and Liberty's.
