Abstract: Edward Benjamin Critchlow papers consist of letters received, diaries and clippings relating to his career as a lawyer in
Salt Lake City. With these are correspondence and papers of various members of the Yardley family, including genealogical
information on the Yardley and Hampton families; also, correspondence and papers of James Martin and his wife, Mary Jenks
(Yardley) Martin, some regarding the Civil War. Also includes some materials relating to the Jenks family.

The Edward Benjamin Critchlow Papers were given to The Bancroft Library by Mrs. Samuel Hamilton Day on February 28, 1973.
Scope and Content
The Edward Benjamin Critchlow papers consist of diaries, letters, and various family papers, including clippings, from the
years 1882 to 1920, chiefly relating to his career as a lawyer in Salt Lake City, Utah. The collection includes genealogical
and other family papers, 1819 to 1933, relating to the Yardley and Hampton families. Also includes a small group of letters,
family papers, and clippings, 1851-1886, relating to James Martin and his wife, Mary Jenks (Yardley) Martin, some regarding
the Civil War, along with miscellaneous papers, 1811-1855, concerning the Jenks family.
