Biography
The Secret Ravine Mine was an unprofitable drift gravel gold mine operated on the Middle
Fork of the Yuba River near Alleghany, Sierra County (Calif.). The Mining Company was
incorporated in San Francisco (April 1909) and its five member Board of Directors was
chaired by S.W. Powell. The Company sold stock between May 1909 and December 1910, but
never had more than twenty shareholders.The Secret Ravine Mining Company ceased
operations in 1911.
Scope and Content
The Secret Ravine Records consist of correspondence (1908-1913), By-Laws, Minutes and
Ledgers (1909-1911).
