Subseries 63 contains model sheets, pencil sketches, photostat model drawings (b&w reproductions) of popular Lantz character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Created in 1927 by Walt Disney, Oswald remained a popular cartoon for 13 years. After Disney (1927-1928) and George Winkler (1928-1929) left Universal, Lantz became the premiere animator for the Oswald cycle. The first Lantz production featuring Oswald, "Race Riot" (#5031) debuted on September 2, 1929. Between 1927 and 1943, over 175 productions (140 of which were made by Lantz) featured the lovable rabbit.

Wally Walrus Subseries 74. circa 1944-1950

Scope and Contents note

Subseries 74 contains pencil sketches, model sheets, stills, and pen and ink drawings of popular Lantz character, Wally Walrus. The Swedish accented Walrus made his debut in "The Beach Nut" (Prod. #D-8)on October 16, 1944. From 1944 through 1953, Lantz productions made 21 productions featuring Wally Walrus. In 1961 Wally had a short comeback in two Chilly Willy productions, "Clash and Carry" (Prod. #U-128) and "Tricky Trout" (Prod. #U-132).
