Biography
Trained as a physician at the University of Minnesota, Minerva Goodman
(1876-1967)worked with the Chinese, the poor and the elderly of Stockton
(Calif.) from 1904 until she retired in 1962. Goodman was instrumental in
establishing x-ray testing for tuberculosis in Stockton. She served the College
of the Pacific as physician to women students for thirty-eight years
(1924-1962). Minerva Goodmn was also active in the woman suffrage movement. She
was, at different times, President, Secretary and Public Relations Officer for
the Stockton Political Equality Club (1904-1911), an affiliate of the
California Equal Suffrage Association.
Scope and Content
The Minerva Goodman Collection consists principally of correspondence,
minutes and flyers relating to various California and Stockton woman suffrage
organizations (1904-1911).
