Scope and Contents
The Walter de la Mare papers at Stanford include a variety of materials collected by Dorothy Hatch, primarily about British
poet and writer Walter de la Mare with some additional materials about his contemporaries, including Naomi Royde-Smith, Rupert
Brooke, and Lady Ottoline Morrell. In addition to letters and postcards written by de la Mare and publications containing
his work, there are a number of professional and amateur musical adaptations of his work. The collection also contains some
materials from Hatch regarding the collecting of de la Mare materials.

Walter de la Mare (1873-1956) was a British poet and writer. He is particularly well-known for his work for children and his
ghost stories.

This collection was given by Dorothy L. Hatch to Stanford University, Special Collections in 1991 and 1993.
