- Biographical / historical:

A. I. Levorsen, petroleum geologist, earned his E. M. degree at the University of Minnesota, School of Mines in 1917. He came to Stanford University in 1945 as professor of geology; he served as the first dean of the School of Mineral Sciences from 1946-51, when he left Stanford to resume his consulting career.
