Biographical Note
The Civilian Public Service provided conscientious objectors in the United States an alternative to military service during
World War II. Henry Maier and Crane Rosenbaum served as secretaries of the Japanese Library Committee which was established
by the Civilian Public Service to document the evacuation and relocation of Japanese Americans during World War II.
