Background
The University of California, Irvine, Student Activities Office was the coordinating center for student organizations and
their activities on the University of California, Irvine campus. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs through
the Office of the Dean of Students, the position of Director of Student Activities was created in 1966, as student services
needs were expanding on campus. Student Affairs was reorganized in 1973, and the Student Activities Office was eliminated
and its role distributed to other offices.
