Description
The collection includes catalogs from conferences of adult education professional organizations. The collection is most complete for a twenty-eight year period from 1986-2015. The majority of the catalogs are from California organizations, but some catalogs of national organizations are included. The collection is arranged in two parts, California and national, and consists of five boxes. Major organizations included are American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, American Library Association, Adult Literacy and Technology, Association of California School Administrators. Adult Education Committee, California Adult Education Administrators- Association, California Council for Adult Education, California Library Association, California Literacy (Organization), California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages,CBAE Staff Development Project, Computer Using Educators, Commission on Adult Basic Education, Learning Disabilities Association of America, Literacy Volunteers of America, Los Angeles Unified School District. Division of Adult and Career Education, National Center for Family Literacy (U.S.), Outreach and Technical Assistance Network (California), Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Technology, Reading and Learning Difficulties (Organization).
Background
California adult educators have a rich history of professional networking and in-service education accomplished by state-wide and regional conferences. Many conferences are sponsored by professional organizations and others are sponsored by units of the California Department of Education and funded by a variety of state and federal sources.
