Background

Biographical / historical:

John P. Peper contributed towards the development of law enforcement training in the 20th Century. As Supervisor for the Bureau of Trade and Industrial Education, California Department of Education (1946-1967) he developed and taught a professional peace officer training course. He also developed a nationally acclaimed bicycle safety program as a patrolman with the Berkeley City Police Department from 1933 to 1946.

Acquisition information:
The John P. Peper papers were given to the CSUS Special Collections and University Archives in 1997 by Inez Peper.
Custodial history:

John P. Peper assembled these papers over many years. The collection was later donated to CSUS Special Collections and University Archives by Inez Peper.
