Description
This collection consists of photographs of the Graves and Byrne families lives in Santa Cruz at the turn of the 20th century.
Background
Sewell Fogg Graves (1843-1923) was the photographer of this collection. His daughter, Helen P. Graves married George G. Byrne,
co-owner of Byrne Bros. Hardware on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz. George and Helen's daughter Gertrude (1901-1992)
was the donor's mother. Gertrude was born in Santa Cruz, and graduated in the first class of the newly built Santa Cruz High
School after the 1915 fire.
