Acquisition information:
Written in Italy, in the Umbro-Roman region, to judge by script, abbreviations and size. The fragment belonged to an Atlantic Bible (see 1/XI/Ita/3). Completely rubbed on the recto. Used for binding, probably a fifteenth-century account book, as is suggested by β€œP.Q.1485,” entered by an Italian hand (s. XVI) on the recto.
Physical description:
Parchment, upper inside quarter of a leaf; 190/255 Γ— 250 (140/210 cropped Γ— 200 cropped; originally Γ— 255) mm. 2 columns, the inner cropped, of which 20/29 incomplete lines survive; double bounding lines to each column; drypoint ruling. Developed Caroline minuscule script, similar to 1/XI/Ita/3 and 2/XI/Ita/4: and go below the line; ascenders and descenders often end in a serif; small 7-shaped and abbreviations; brown ink. 2-line red capital initials; running title β€œLiber” in red capitals.
