Abstract: E.R. Hedrick (1876-1943) was a professor of mathematics at UCLA (1937- ), and provost. He also served as vice-president for
the University of California, was the editor-in-chief of the
Bulletin of American Mathematical Society (1921-37), vice-president (1916) and president (1929-30) of the American Mathematical Society, and president of the Mathematical
Association of America (1916). The collection consists of Hedrick's mathematical notebooks and journals.

Ph.D, University of Göttingen, 1901; attended École Normale Supérieure, 1901; LL.D, University of Missouri, 1939; instructor
of mathematics, Sheffield Scientific School (Yale), 1901-03; professor of mathematics, University of Missouri, 1903-24; in
1924 became professor, and in 1937, provost, UCLA; served as vice-president, University of California; editor-in-chief,
Bulletin of American Mathematical Society, 1921-37; vice-president (1916) and president (1929-30), American Mathematical Society; president, Mathematical Association
of America, 1916; published works include
An algebra for secondary schools (1908); he died on February 3, 1943.
