    Scope and Content of Collection

As of 2010, there were over 250 active student organizations at UCSB, representing the wide range of backgrounds and interests of the student body. Student organizations are registered with the Division of Student Affairs, Office of Student Life. Groups are searchable by database on the Student Affairs website: http://www.sa.ucsb.edu/orgs/  Some organizations have their own websites.
The collection contains mainly flyers and posters for events, issues of interest, meetings, etc. for student organizations, clubs, and groups. Some files on Isla Vista, including student services, events, and groups not directly affiliated with the university but formed by students, are included. Groups with more substantial materials have been separated to their own collections. Groups that fall into multiple categories have been filed by their primary focus, i.e. Korean Christian Fellowship is in the religious groups series, not the ethnic and international series.

    Arrangement

The collection is arranged in the following series:
Series I: Student Organizations, contains files on student groups arranged by interest/subject. Files contain mainly flyers and announcements.
Series II: Events, contains files on campus and student-organized events.
Series III: Subject Files, contains files on subjects of student interest and involvement, including civil rights, Isla Vista issues, the Vietnam War, and workers' strikes.
Series IV: Oversize, contains calendars, posters and broadsides, scrapbooks, and other oversize materials relating to the above subject divisions.
Series V: Audio, contains 40 audiotapes of student organization-sponsored events, arranged alphabetically by speaker.
