    Abstract: A collection of posters covering various aspects of Mexican community development and culture, including public and personal health, indigenous literacy, peace, and cultural exhibits.
    Languages represented: Most of the collection materials are in Spanish, with a few posters in Tzotzil.
    Physical location: Many of the Bancroft Library collections are stored offsite and advance notice may be required for use. For current information on the location of these materials, please consult the library's online catalog.

    Arrangement

    Items in the collection were assigned item numbers as they were inventoried by the library. These are simply sequential numbers appended to the collection number (BANC PIC 2001.206). They reflect no intellectual arrangement, no evidence as to provenance, and they are not related to the creation of the items in any way. The numbers are required for item identification and retrieval from storage.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    A factitious collection of posters covering various aspects of Mexican community development and culture. Themes include public and personal health, indigenous literacy, peace, and cultural exhibits.
    A majority of the works in this collection are by CREFAL (Centro Regional de Alfabetización Funcional en las Zonas Rurales de América Latina), a significant rural public education agency established in 1951. CREFAL became a Mexican Institute in 1974, as the Regional Centre for Adult Education and Functional Literacy for Latin America, and continues to co-operate with OAS and UNESCO regional programs. Also of note are posters by the Instituto Nacional Indigenista.
