    Scope and Content

    The Alice Overton papers consists of reports, publications, clippings, correspondence, printed ephemera, 1930-1987, that documents Alice Overton's career as a social worker. The papers contain Overton's research and professional papers and publications, including information about the St. Paul Family Centered Project; correspondence; clippings and letters regarding her activities as a social activist involved in the 1965 Montgomery, Alabama, freedom march; a paper on Alice Overton's contribution to the profession of social work; and an obituary and letters of condolence to Julianna Schmidt on the occasion of the death of Alice Overton. The holdings are especially strong for the 1950s and the 1960s.

    Biographical note

    Alice Overton (1907-1987) was a professor of social work at the USC School of Social Work and a social worker whose work in the area of client relationships was significant.
