Biographical/Historical Sketch
Dr. David Charles Gardner was chaplain at Stanford University from 1902 until his retirement in 1936; he also taught Biblical
history and literature and served on the board of the Stanford Home for Convalescent Children. When Gardner arrived in 1902,
Dr. R. Heber Newton held the position of pastor; after Newton resigned in 1903, the position of pastor was dropped.
