    Abstract: David Rose (b. 1910) was a layout artist Walt Disney Studios (1936-40), served with Signal Corps, U.S. Army (1943-45), illustrator and designer at various film and television studios (1945-60), and an instructor at Otis Art Institute and various other universities and art societies. The collection consists of scripts, storyboards, drawings, photographs, publicity, and ephemera related to David Rose. The bulk of the collection includes scripts, storyboards, and ephemera from the series SNAFU.

    Biography

    Rose was born in Malden, Massachusetts on March 10, 1910; BS, MA College of Art (1934); exhibited in one man and group exhibit shows; layout artist Walt Disney Studios (1936-40); served with Signal Corps, U.S. Army (1943-45); illustrator and designer at various film and television studios (1945-60); he started his career as artist-reporter for court trials and news events for television, newspapers, and magazines in 1971; instructor at Otis Art Institute and various other universities and art societies.

    Scope and Content

    Collection consists of scripts, storyboards, drawings, photographs, publicity, and ephemera related to artist David Rose. The bulk of the collection includes scripts, storyboards, and ephemera from the series SNAFU. Also includes scripts and storyboards from the series A few quick facts. Some materials are from the Animated Cartoon Section of the U.S. Army “Frank Capra Motion Picture Unit.”

    Organization and Arrangement

    For many records, David Rose's compiled clippings and other miscellaneous materials are found in a small folder preceding the corresponding oversize folders of original drawings.
