Scope and content:

This collection contains typescript drafts, autographed by Frederick Shroyer, of It Happened in Wayland (Reynal, 1963) and There None Embrace (Ward, Lock, 1966), and two unpublished manuscripts: Lovely, Dark and Deep and Rage in a Ruined Land. This collection also contains some manuscript notes for There None Embrace.

Biographical / historical:

Frederick Shroyer (1916-1983) was the book editor for the Los Angeles Examiner, a professor of English and American Literature at California State University--Los Angeles, and USC alumnus.

Acquisition information:
pPapers were donated to USC by Shroyer in 1964 and 1974.
