The collection contains over 100 letters from John Montgomery to Robert Frauenglas, discussing poetry, Montgomery's books about Jack Kerouac, and personal lifestyles.

    Biography

    John Montgomery was born in Spokane, Washington on May 2, 1919. He received a B.S. in Economics (1940) from the University of California, Berkeley followed by an M.A. in Library Science (1958) from George Peabody College for Teachers in Tennessee, and an M.A. in Creative Writing (1964) from San Francisco State College.
    He authored Hip, Beat, Cool, & Antic, (1988) as well as several books about Jack Kerouac including: Jack Kerouac: A Memoir (1970); Kerouac West Coast (1976); The Kerouac We Knew (1982); and Kerouac at the "Wild Boar" (1986).
    He passed away on June 5, 1992.
    Robert A. Frauenglas (1950- ) received a B.A. from the State University of New York, Binghamton (1973) and a J.D. from the St. Louis University School of Law (1981). He is the author of The Eclectic Musings of a Brooklyn Bum.
