Abstract: Typed reproductions of 8 letters written by D.Q. Adams in the years 1864 and 1869. Letters are mainly addressed to L.D. Stephens,
and written from various places in the Nevada Territory and Butte and Tehama Counties in California. Subjects includes crop
prices and yields, mules and money.

Biography / Administrative History
The Society has no biographical information about D.Q. Adams, but the History of Yolo County, California (Thomas Jefferson
Gregory, Los Angeles: Historic Record Co., 1913) cites him as an original stockholder in the Bank of Woodland. The president
of this bank in Yolo County, incorporated in 1868, was Lawrence D. Stephens, the person to whom the letters are addressed.

Scope and Content of Collection
Typed reproductions of 8 letters written by D.Q. Adams in the years 1864 and 1869. Letters are alternately signed "Your Uncle"
and addressed to L.D. Stephens. Although some of the transcriptions do not directly address L.D. Stephens it is assumed that
all of the letters were sent to him. They are written from Fort Casna, Nevada Territory, Chico in Butte County, Cache Creek,
Honey Lake, Mountain Meadows, and Red Bluff in Tehama County. Correspondence includes information about crop prices and yields,
driving mules and requests for money to be sent.

The collection is arranged in chronological order, with letters from 1864 first, then those from 1869 following in the folder.
