Biographical / historical:

Formed after the merger of Vultee Aircraft and Consolidated Aircraft, Convair was an American aircraft manufacturing company. It later expanded into rockets and other spacecraft. Some of the aircraft manufactured included: Convair B-36 bomber, F-102 Delta Dagger, and Convair Model 48 Charger. The first Atlas rockets were also manufactured for the manned orbital flights as part of Project Mercury. This Atlas design also led to the Atlas-Centaur design. Convair was eventually sold to General Dynamics, and in 1994, to McDonnell Doublas and Lockheed. The dissolution of Convair happened in 1996.

Willard Martin was a management employee of Convair, and served as Director of Public Relations in the 1970’s.
