Edward Carrick was a set designer and theater historian. He wrote several books including Art and design in the British film (1948), Baroque theatre construction (1982), Designing for moving pictures (1941), and Gordon Craig: the story of his life (1968). The collection consists of Carrick's correspondence with Lee Freeson, and correspondence and ephemera related to his late father's career, shedding further light on Gordon Craig, Ellen Terry, Isadora Duncan and others.

Collection consists of Carrick's correspondence with Lee Freeson, with observations on Edward Gordon Craig, Ellen Terry, and other theatrical personalities. Includes letters from his sister, Ellen Craig, to Freeson. Also includes other correspondence and ephemera related to his late father's career, shedding further light on Gordon Craig, Ellen Terry, Isadora Duncan and others.

Biographical / historical:

Born as Edward Anthony Craig in 1904; son of Edward Gordon Craig, sometimes called the father of the modern theater; known professionally as Edward Carrick, he became a set designer and theater historian; worked with Bette Davis, Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud and others; wrote several books, including Art and design in the British film (1948), Baroque theatre construction (1982), Designing for moving pictures (1941), and Gordon Craig: the story of his life (1968).
