Series Scope and Content Summary

This series documents the governance and administrative activities of the Board of Trustees from 1961-1968. Established by the State Legislature, the CSU Trustees formed to provide management oversight of the California State College System, which at the time consisted of 17 colleges. Today, the CSU system is comprised of 23 statewide campuses.
The materials in this series primarily document Board of Trustees meetings, which consist of minutes, agendas, and resolutions for various subcommittees. The series also includes administrative articles, correspondence, and directives pertaining to CSU regulations; and copies of the Sacramento Newsletter, nos. 1-13, published in 1966 by the Office of the Chancellor. In addition, the records contain a written history of the activities of the Board of Trustees following its establishment as the governing body for the California State Colleges in 1960.
