    Biography

    Born May 28, 1903 in Lynn, Massachusetts, Fredda ran her own professional studio in San Lorenzo Valley, California for nearly four decades from 1949 to 1985. Fredda was adept at capturing rural California through photojournalism and portraiture and spent her entire adult life connected to the people and activities she recorded with her camera.
    She belonged to the Order of the Amaranth and Eastern Star. She died November 23, 1992 at age 89.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The collection documents the activities and small town life of San Lorenzo Valley, California. Subjects include: holidays, parades, horse shows, theater productions, business groups and community activities. Formal and informal portraiture of families, homes, properties and animals are also included. Of particular note are the horse shows hosted by Rory Calhoun and Lita Baron. The collection includes black and white prints and negatives. There are a few color enlargements, along with newsclippings and annotated invoices from the studio.
