Description
Consists primarily of subject files, arranged alphabetically, concerning early conservation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some correspondence, notes, and organizational records among the subject files. Of note are the People for Open Space materials and the folders on preservation activities in Napa County.
Background
Dorothy Erskine was born in 1896. A lifelong resident of San Francisco, she was involved in early efforts supporting public housing in the 1930's. She later became an active leader in local and regional environmental organizations. She passed away in San Francisco in 1982.
