    Biography/History

    Pictorial California was a publication founded by Eugene Swarzwald in 1925. It was made up entirely of photographs of California with captions but no other narration. Photographs depict California cities, wilderness, and points of interest with emphasis on leisure activities.

    Scope and Content

    This collection consists of camera ready photographic mockup boards (c. 1920s-1930s) for the publication Pictorial California. Most of the photographs are unlabeled and undated.

    Organization and Arrangement

    This collection consists entirely of photographic mockup boards and loose photographs housed in 4 oversize flat boxes and 2 document boxes. They are not arranged in any particular order, as the boards are not labeled with issue numbers or dates. Most of the photos also do not have the location labeled.
