    Abstract: Rudolf Lothar Franz Israel Baumfeld (1903-1988) worked with his friend and fellow architect Victor Gruen in New York and Los Angeles. Baumfeld was the principal designer for Victor Gruen and Associates (founded, 1951). He designed several projects in Europe and the U.S., including Costa Mesa's South Coast Plaza and the Tishman 615 Building in downtown Los Angeles. The collection consists of drawings, sketches, blueprints, photographs, personal materials and ephemera related to Rudolf L. Baumfeld's architectural career with Victor Gruen and Associates.

    Biography

    Rudolf Lothar Franz Israel Baumfeld was born in 1903; he was a native of Vienna, Austria who worked with his friend and fellow architect Victor Gruen in New York and Los Angeles, where Baumfeld was principal designer for Victor Gruen and Associates (founded, 1951); he designed several projects in Europe and the U.S., including Costa Mesa's South Coast Plaza and the Tishman 615 Building in downtown Los Angeles; he died in 1988.
