New Canaan estate files, 1945-1995

Identifier:
Series II.
Dates:
1945-1995
Extent:
3.5 Linear Feet 7 boxes
Scope and content:

This series, like Series I, is comprised of photographs, slides, negatives, correspondence, and other documents - all of which vary in size and format. Whereas the projects in Series I spanned the globe, the projects in Series II are all located on Johnson's property in New Canaan, Connecticut: Johnson's Glass House, Gate, Guest House, Ghost House, Jet (i.e., fountain), Kirstein Tower, Painting Gallery, Pavilion, Pool, Sculpture Gallery, Study, and Visitors Center, as well as projects that were never constructed. The files are organized into three sections: Photographs of drawings of the Glass House (boxes 12-13), Photographs of the Glass House (boxes 14-15), and Other structures (boxes 16-18). The first section is arranged chronologically, the second is arranged alphabetically by photographer (at least for exterior shots), and the third is arranged alphabetically by structure.
