After receiving an honorable discharge, he became an elementary school principal from 1947 to 1967. Later, he went on to become a legislative advocate for the California Council of Adult Education.
During the 1971 through 1993, Ed worked on "Update on State Legislation". The newsletter was a weekly report of Sacramento legislation pertaining to education.
