Collection consists of correspondence, clippings, and memorabilia related to Ackerman's work at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and as Supervisor of Los Angeles Juvenile Hall.

Biographical / historical:

Ackerman was born in 1896; began working at Los Angeles Juvenile Hall, 1929; assistant superintendent, Los Angeles Juvenile Hall, 1929-36; superintendent, 1936-43; assistant administrator of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, 1943-51; director of public relations, Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, 1954-59.
