The Institute was sponsored by the UCLA Department of Music and the Musicians Congress and was held Sept. 14-17, 1944. Contributors include Hoagy Carmichael, Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco, Morton Gould, Roy Harris, Alfred Newman, Lawrence Clark Powell, Miklós Rózsa, and Artie Shaw.
