    In publication continuously since 1971, SUBSTANCE is a major interdisciplinary journal with a reputation for excellence. It is an international nexus for discourses converging upon literature from a variety of fields, including philosophy, the social sciences, science, and the arts. Readers have come to expect the unexpected from SUBSTANCE, and to experience a sense of participating in the formulation of emerging theories.
    SUBSTANCE is published by the University of Wisconsin Press and edited at the University of California at Santa Barbara with the support of the College of Letters and Science and the Department of French and Italian.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The collection includes draft manuscripts of articles and correspondence with authors; also other files relating to publication of the journal, a review of theory and literary criticism. It is arranged by issue number.
