Court records of suit against David Jacks and the Pacific Improvement Company by John C. Gore, Jr. and Hamilton Gay Howard for the property of Rancho el Pescadero. In 1907, Pacific Improvement Co. purchased 5,300 acres of the rancho from David Jacks, who had obtained the land through a sheriff's sale. In 1909, Pacific Improvement named a portion of the rancho "Pebble Beach." John C. Gore, the father of the appellant, had purchased the property in the 1850's.
