Biography
Robert Mulligan was an American film director who began his career in live television in the early
1950s, and went on to direct numerous feature films, notably TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962), INSIDE DAISY
CLOVER (1965), THE STALKING MOON (1968), SUMMER OF '42 (1971), and BLOODBROTHERS (1978).
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Robert Mulligan papers span the years 1952-2009 (bulk 1957-1991) and encompass 1.7 linear feet of
manuscripts, 1 linear foot of photographs, 1 artwork, and 2 posters. The collection contains scripts for
several of Mulligan's film and television productions, including his annotated shooting scripts for
CLARA'S HEART (1988), THE MAN IN THE MOON (1991), and TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962), as well as clippings,
miscellaneous production documents related to a number of his other films, and photographs. There is also
a small amount of correspondence, notably with Horton Foote, Gregory Peck, and Reynolds Price.
