store until its closure in 2019. The collection includes family photographs, advertisements, ledgers and ephemera documenting
the history of the company. It was founded in 1892 by Jens Christian Pedersen, a Danish immigrant and cabinet maker. The collection
also includes photos of the 1906 earthquake and several issues of the Santa Rosa High School Newsletter.
J.C. Pedersen, a Danish immigrant and cabinet maker, opened the doors of to the Pedersen family's first furniture store at
the corner of Fourth and A Streets in Santa Rosa, California in 1892. Since that time, four generations of the Pedersen family
owned and operated the Pedersen Furniture Company. As brothers and co-owners Ken and Paul Pedersen faced retirement and with
no other family members interested in continuing to operate the business, they decided to close the store in 2019.
