Biographical Note
Ku Feng-hsiang 谷鳳翔 (Gu Fengxiang)(approximately 1904-1988), 號岐山. Chinese scholar and official of the Chinese Nationalist Party
(Kuomintang/KMT); served as Minister of Justice in Taiwan (1954-1960) and Secretary-General of the KMT Central Committee (1964-1968).
Scope and Content of Collection
The Ku Feng-hsiang 谷鳳翔 (Gu Fengxiang) collection documents Ku's career in the Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang/KMT) before
and after the Chinese Civil War that ended in 1949. This includes reports, memoranda, correspondence, and printed matter related
to KMT Party laws and regulations, anti-Communist committees, and KMT commemorative publications. Materials related to Ku's
tenure as Secretary-General of the KMT Central Committee include overviews of his policy implementations, meeting miutes,
speeches, handbooks, and letters of appointment. Materials related to Ku's tenure as Minister of Justice in Taiwan include
correspondence with people in his jurisdiction, court training documents, and materials on the investigation into Lei Chen
(Lei Zhen) 雷震 (1960-1961), the case of P'eng Ming-min (Peng Mingmin) 彭明敏 (1964), and the cases of Li Tsung-jen (Li Zongren)
李宗仁 and Wu Guozhen (K.C. Wu) 吳國楨 (1950-1954). This collection also contains records of Ku's time as member of the Chinese
Cultural Renaissance Movement 中華文化復興運動, including the creation of the China Television Company, and his personal notebooks
from 1964-1977.
