The posters reflect both Japanese painting techniques ( nihonga) and Western painting techniques ( yōga). Pictorial styles range from neo-traditionalism derived from woodblock prints ( ukiyoe) to modernism. The prominence of beautiful women ( bijin) as an aesthetic category in the collection is of note.
