    Biographical Note

    Leonid Semenovich Vilenskii (1880-1950) was a Communist Party functionary; he was a delegate to the Second Congress of the Russian Social-Democratic Workers' Party in 1903. David Brontman (1915-2002) was a Soviet engineer specializing in aviation and space technology. Brontman spent most of his career with the Lavochkin Aviation Bureau, working on such projects as Luna-21, Mars-2, and the Venera and Vega spacecraft.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Includes personal documents such as a police registration card (with mugshots), a brief memoir, and a curriculum vitae relating to Leonid Vilenskii's life and career; a passport and documents relating to Vilenskii's wife, Rukhlia Gershkova Taratuta-Vilenskaya; an obituary belonging to Vilenskii's brother, Viktor Konstantinovich Taratuta; and biographical notes and artifacts (medals and pendants) relating to David Konstantinovich Brontman.
