Collection originally processed and cataloged in 1993. In 2022, Lara Michels, Head of Archival Processing, rehoused at-risk
volumes and created an online finding aid for the collection.
Scope and Contents
Seventeen volumes of descriptive registers for prisoners entering San Quentin prison between 1851 and 1940. Registers include
name of prisoner, commitment number, and date of arrival; information on nationality, crime, length of sentence, occupation,
physical description, etc.; and information on discharge, parole, transfer, pardon, etc.
