Seventeen volumes of descriptive registers for prisoners entering San Quentin prison between 1851 and 1940. Registers include
name of prisoner, commitment number, and date of arrival; information on nationality, crime, length of sentence, occupation,
physical description, etc.; and information on discharge, parole, transfer, pardon, etc.
