Background
John D. Nicks Jr. was born on February 4, 1941, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1963, he graduated from Abilene Christian University
with a bachelor's degree in religion. Nicks met his wife Carolyn, while they were both enrolled at the university, and the
two married on June 2, 1961.
