Biographical / Historical
Chris Torben Boyle (July 30, 1950-April 12, 2023) was born to Charles Thomas Boyle and Gloria Jeanne Chappelle in Boulder,
Colorado. Before his brother and sister were born, the Boyle family moved to Oklahoma. They moved again to Tulsa after his
father received an offer to coach at a local high school. 1967 The Doors came to Tulsa, and Chris Boyle interviewed them backstage.
He later interviewed John Densmore after their performance at the Long Beach Arena in 1970. Boyle interviewed other musicians
in the 1970s through the 1980s, including Bob Marley, Alpha Blondy, Arthur Lee, and Frank Zappa.
Chris Boyle eventually moved to California and worked as a tennis instructor and coach. He also taught high school English
and continued to be a sports and music journalist. After retirement, Chris may have worked on his own music and played shows
with his brother, Kevin Boyle, in the early 2000s. After his brother passed away in 2002, Chris continued to play shows around
Long Beach, California.
