    Abstract: The Transgender Gendervariant Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP) is an organization of transgender, gender-variant, and intersex people – most of them low-income transgender women of color who have been imprisoned or targeted by police – whose mission is to end transphobic human rights abuses in California prisons and jails. The collection includes issues of the TGIJP newsletter, Stiletto, as well as publications, pamphlets, zines, posters, clippings, and other ephemera.

    Biography/Administrative History

    The Transgender Gendervariant Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP) is an organization of transgender, gender-variant, and intersex people – most of them low-income transgender women of color who have been imprisoned or targeted by police – whose mission is to end transphobic human rights abuses in California prisons and jails. Formed primarily to provide legal services, it now focuses on peer advocacy and community-building as well. Miss Major Griffin-Gracy was its longtime executive director. This collection was assembled and donated by longtime employee Woods Ervin.

    The collection includes issues of the TGIJP newsletter, Stiletto, as well as publications, pamphlets, zines, posters, clippings, and other ephemera.
