Scope and Contents note

Artsreach was founded in 1979 as a community outreach program of the University of California, Los Angeles, Adult Continuing Education (UCLA Extension). After five years, Artsreach became an independent nonprofit organization operating on grants and contract funds to provide fine arts workshops and performances to special constituencies across Southern California. Artsreach co-sponsored "Art in Other Places," a nation-wide conference that took place at UCLA in the summer of 1986 bringing together artists and administrators involved in arts programs in non- traditional settings. This series contains the administrative records of Artsreach with the bulk of materials relating to their collaboration with Arts in Corrections as well as programs for incarcerated youth.
